Our lil' Ragamuffin...

I thought that with Grant in school four days a week, there would be scads of times to get everything done, but it turns out not to be the case!  I always seem to have another project to do, and Kit is a tiny bit faster each day -- not walking yet, but getting a little closer, a little closer.  Autumn is beautiful here, but I've learned to treat each Autumn day as if it may be the last.  The coming of winter here is very unpredictable, but when it hits, it's hard and fast.  One week, I'll be out raking leaves into piles, and the next, we've got 14 inches of snow in the driveway!  So, I'm trying to get things ready for winter and Christmas, but one thing after another keeps popping up, preventing me from really digging in.  First, it was Grandparents' Day at the Grade School, and I volunteered to help serve.  It was pretty thankless work, but I met some moms closer to my age (not just the 23-year-olds who have kids my kids' age!).  That was great.  Then I took both kids to a local pumpkin patch for a day of Farm-Time-Fun.  Finally, I've had some new work come in.  Document creation and assistance.  Not terribly fun, but with a little creativity, and of course, a bit of money.

My babies on the straw bale mountain.   Pumpkins, pumpkins everywhere!

-- OH!  And I forgot the most fun thing: I spent my first day volunteering in Grant's class.  I was completely superfluous (they have 3 adults for 18 kids), but I basically read to and played with the kids for 3 hours!  I think most of the moms sit out during PE, but I was right there with them, running and jumping around like an imbecile.  The kids seemed comfortable with me, and it was fun.  I'm still sore.  Grant did very well sharing me, and his teacher complimented the way I played with all of the kids, not just Grant.  I kind of went overboard with that aspect, but I really want him to understand that I'm not there just to play with him.  After I'm there a few more times, I'll loosen up a bit, but what I did seemed to work really well.  I'm looking forward to doing it again.

Halloween 07

Halloween was a lot of fun. Grant first wated to be a robot again, then a ghost, then he saw a big Grim Reaper at Sam's Club, and his mind was made up. "I want to be a Gran Weeper!" Luckily, the creature at Sam's carried a lantern instead of a scythe, so our Little Reaper went with his loot-pumpkin with a glow stick inside rather than some big, sharp stick.

I had planned on painting his face as a skeleton, but he found this mask at the thrift store (who knew it came in a kid size?). He insisted on the mask, then, of course, tired of if about half way through the big night!

The pictures below aren't the best, Kit is quite mobile now, but not yet old enough to sit still when asked. In addition, Big Brother kept wanting to 'help', so many of the pics had him looking down or moving. So there you go.

Eventually, even the Grim Reaper needs a break when trying to get pics of a baby.

Grant loves to play hide-n-seek, and hides in the same place over and over again.
