Celebrate

Boy turns Three Years Old!

Yes, Grant is 3. I can't believe it.

We had a small party at home with a few relatives, like last year. This time, Grant was very excited for His Day, participated in opening presents, didn't seem overwhelmed, and told me he had a lot of fun.

Today (the day after) he asked for "More birthday, please."

I have more text to explain the pics below, but wanted to get the pics up right away for all those interested. Enjoy!

"What? Do I have a little something on my face?"

Enjoying his favorite breakfast of blueberry pancakes. (Last week his favorite was Grape Nuts.)

We got him this Thomas pop-up play tent, and gave it to him early in the morning. I knew that it would take all his attention, so it allowed some time for party prep. In addition, it allowed him to actually pay attention to his guests and other gifts when the party started after nap time! He LOVES "Big Thomas".

Inside the train.

Playing with the first (of many) Thomas Trains. If you haven't guessed, this is the theme of the party and Grant's current obsession. The relatives were burning up eBay looking for good deals on Thomas and his friends!

There are other photos of Grant opening his gifts, but most of them are of the top of his head or his back. He is much too quick for the deadly digital delay! So. He got lots of trains, a plastic tool set, a big Humpty Dumpty, Pooh & Friends beanie babies, a Pooh puzzle, a cool light-up hand-held fan, a set of "junior" silverware, Thomas dishware, a "masculine" tea set, some terrific clothes... in short, way too much!

So let's skip forward to the cake.
I was particularly proud of my KitKat railroad ties...

Momma gives Grant a taste of icing from a candle.
Grant takes out the next candle with a little scooping motion, for a little extra icing. By the third candle, Grant scoops across about half the cake, to the great amusement of our guests!

Juice from a caboose!

His Majesty, awed by a video.

The Loot.

(Minus Humpty Dumpty and Pooh & Friends)
